Who pays for the first bill?

There are several ways of looking at this, some people feel that if a man likes the girl and would really want another date, and then he has no alternative but to pay the bill. However in some cases it would appear that the person that did the asking is going to have to foot the bill, but this can seem to be putting pressure on the other party, so therefore they feel obliged to go on another date or would feel awkward if they did not.

If we look at older people, the man would pay regardless of who asked who and he would not be thinking that just because he paid for the meal he had somehow bought another evenings company.

So in fact there are two answers. One, the man pays without putting pressure on the girl. And two, the easiest solution if both parties feel awkward, go half each, but don’t sit there adding up who had the dessert or the extra brandy. That is not cool!
