No movies for the first date

There was a time when going to see a film would have been the ideal place to take a date, especially for a first date. This was because they were well known for dating couples, the price was fairly reasonable and there is no alcohol involved so your mates are not going to drop you in it.

However the idea of using the cinema as the venue for a first date may not be the one that you should be considering, if only for the reasons below:

You can’t pay attention to the movie
Movie theatres are too almost-romantic
It’s expensive
The floors are sticky
You can’t ask for your money back
Movies are nerdier than other date possibilities
Two hours is a long time to sit around someone you might despise
Good movies are usually not romantic
Wall-E will be way more adorable than whomever you’re dating
It doesn’t allow for conversation
Women hate clichés
